"Chase" by James Nam 남기웅

James Nam  Masters Writing 2 Aaron Teacher Chase I hit the ground. The crash made a small sound that echoed around. My hands were touching a soft, cool substance. After emitting sets of coughs, I drank air with my mouth. The pace of my breathing became slower each moment while I tried to calm myself down. After a few seconds, I was able to pull myself up to a sitting position. I opened my eyes. My sight was just a series of blurry images which I couldn’t figure out. I rubbed my eyes and tried again. The soft, sticky substance that was sticking to my fingers moved onto my eyelids. I cleaned the substance with my arms and wrists and got a clear vision.  I looked at what I was sitting on. Dirt, just plain dirt with specks of grasses it was. I shifted my gaze upward and saw light. The light was quite dim; making it almost unable to see what was around. Anne breathed heavily as she let her eyes watch the darkness that she was facing at. She could see nothing but pitch black, and she could also feel some heavy power pushing and passing her cheeks and hair. Where am I? It seemed that she was inside a place, but she didn ’ t have any ideas that where she was. She slowly moved her feet. Screeeeeeeech . The floor shriecked as she made her first step. Anne reassured herself that everything will be alright. She kept walking. Her legs were quivering and her face looked like a clown. Bang . A wall was blocking her step as if it were going to ridicule her, you can never get out of here. Hahaha. Anne inhaled and slowly exhaled. Then she continued her step.
